Jenny’s Journal
Did you watch all of the Oscar action last night? Who was your pick for Best Film? Mine was “The Help”. I filled out my “ballot” through a cool Oscar app on my iPhone beforehand but sadly, only got 4 out of 24 categories correct. Were you spot on with the winners? Overall, it was a great show! I enjoyed seeing Billy Crystal onstage again as host.
Looking forward to a great week. March 1st is my birthday — my last one in my 20′s! And March 2nd marks Dr. Seuss’ birthday. In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday and the National Education Association’s Read Across America, the Ascension Parish Library has planned a special event honoring Dr. Seuss. Read Across America is a national reading celebration that takes place each year on or near March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. This yearly celebration encourages readers to get excited about reading. Join the Gonzales branch and get into the reading excitement on Thursday, March 1, at 5:00 p.m. This special event will feature Dr. Seuss stories, a rhyming bingo, and a fun craft. I’ll be there and would love to see you! You could not, would not, want to miss this special event! This program is free and open to children in preschool and above; however, children ages 6 and under may need help from a parent to make the craft.
Also, on Thursday, March 1st: COEA – the Arc of East Ascension will kick-off their celebration of March being “Disability Awareness Month” at the respite center on Pupera Drive. Please join me there as well. It will be a wonderful celebration!
Hope you have a great week!
Take care and God bless!
