Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jenny Heroman loves living and working in South Louisiana. Her best friend growing up (who’s now her sister-in-law… cool!) was born and raised in Gonzales, so she spent lots of years growing to love this community and its people.
As a college student, she co-hosted LSU Tiger TV’s “Sports Showtime” program for 4 semesters where she covered stories like the Tiger Stadium renovations, the 2003 LSU Football National Championship, and “Mike the Tiger, VI” coming home to Death Valley.
Jenny is a proud alum of the Walt Disney World College Program where she studied Marketing & Public Relations at Disney University (yes, there really is such a place!) and earned credit towards her schooling at LSU. When she wasn’t in class or studying, she worked with Winnie the Pooh and his friends at the Crystal Palace restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. Oh… and she played in the parks every spare second she had! What a dream come true!!!
Once she got back to reality, it was time to finish earning her college degree. In her senior year at LSU, Jenny auditioned and was chosen to begin writing and anchoring the morning news and weather cut-ins during “the Today Show” for WVLA – NBC 33. After graduating from the Manship School of Mass Communication with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Jenny went on to work full-time in the NBC 33 newsroom: still anchoring the morning news and weather cut-ins, but also researching stories and reporting for the 5, 6, and 10 o’clock news broadcasts. Simulataneously, she was producing their weekend morning show called “Baton Rouge Lagniappe” – very rare for someone so early in their broadcasting career.
Jenny met up with EATEL in the fall of 2007 where she was invited to co-host “EATEL 4 News”. Over the years, that daily news show grew and changed into what is now her very own show, “EATEL Community Connection.” Jenny has covered numerous events throughout Ascension and Livingston like the Ascension Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade, the Jambalaya Festival, the Special Olympics Torch Run, and so many others. Jenny also continues to serve as mistress of ceremonies for events in and around the Greater Baton Rouge area.
When she’s not working, Jenny is the lead singer in a wedding band called “Something Blue” where she belts out tunes like “At Last”, “Black Velvet” and “Chain of Fools”. She also sings part-time with Ned Fasullo & the Fabulous Little Big Band Orchestra where she sings Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Rosemary Clooney tunes!
Jenny is also a member of the Rotary Club of East Ascension where she serves on the PR committee.
In her spare time, Jenny enjoys volunteering for local charities, spending time with her family and friends, reading, soaking up the sun (especially out on the water), and laughing!!!
She also loves hearing from you so send her an email! news@eatel.com
